How to lengthen the lifespan of your projector lamp ?
The lifespan of a projector lamp depends on the quality of its maintenance.
The average lifespan of a projector lamp is 2000 hours. The lifespan of a projector lamp can be increased or reduced depending on the maintenance carried out on your projector.
Maintenance advice for projector lamps and increasing the lamp's lifespan
Justprojectorlamps.co.uk recommends not handling a lamp with bare hands but using a clean cloth to do so. Finger marks on the surface of the lamp can cause overheating and fusing.
Before you undergo any maintenance on your projector lamp, switch off the projector using the remote control. Do not use the on/off switch and do not disconnect the projector. The projector then goes into standby mode, the image will go out and the ventilator accelerates in order to progressively cool the lamp. The temperature of a projector lamp during projection can reach 1000°C. Disconnecting the projector when it is on will cause uneven cooling on the surface of the lamp, and therefore early fusing.
The failure of the lamp can also be caused by a mechanic shock: the hot filament of the lamp is very fragile, so please always make sure that the projector is turned off and the lamp has cooled before moving the projector.
?Economy? mode: if your projector is equipped with an "up/down switch", you can lengthen the lifespan of your projector lamp by setting it to the ?down? position. This means, however, that the light will dim.
Finally, in order to improve the maintenance of your projector lamp, we recommend that you regularly clean the projector's air filters. If they are blocked by dust, they slow down the ventilation of the lamp and can cause overheating.
