Sony VPL HS60 projector, a projector designed for home cinemas
Sony VPL HS60 is a high-end device that boasts all of the features necessary for a fantastic home cinema experience: lens shift, full connectivity and additional functions that enhance the image quality. Discontinued in September 2007, there’s no need to get rid of this model however, as all it requires is a decent projector lamp Sony VPL HS60 for example, available on justprojectorlamps.co.uk.

Of course, to ensure its suitability as a device for HD Ready screening, it boasts a resolution of WXGA 1280 x 720 pixels. Sony also advertises a contrast of 10000 : 1, and the projector comes equipped with a UHP 1200 lumens Sony VPL HS60 projector lamp. Added to this, 12-bit digital processing offers very natural colorimetry.
The "Cinema Black Pro" function and the Advanced Iris function allow you to dynamically adjust the iris according to the level of the input signal. More specifically, you can control the iris aperture to brighten bright scenes and darken the dark ones. Also worth a mention is the Real Colour Processing function, to independently calibrate the colours projected depending on the source used (DVD, Sat/cable, VCR, console, etc).
Although this device is sadly no longer produced, to purchase a Sony VPL HS60 projector lamp just look for authorised dealers such as justprojectorlamps.co.uk. However, for those looking to update their projector, we highly recommend the ViewSonic PX702HD, a projector whose performance is very similar to the Sony VPL HS60.

The ViewSonic PX702HD projector is also notable for its 3D compatibility, achieving striking depth effects without image duplication. As with all of their models, the ViewSonic includes Super Color technology for a more realistic and accurate colour display, in both dark and bright environments. Lastly, it features reduced energy consumption which ensures exceptional lamp life, estimated at up to 10000 hours. When SuperEco mode is enabled, the device automatically goes into sleep mode when idle, saving even more power.
