The electronics company, NEC, announces the release of four new video-projectors: P474W, P554W, P474U and P554U. These latest models will take the place of their popular P-series projectors.

The Japanese firm, NEC, has always been one of the top DLP and LCD projector manufacturers. It specifically focuses on high performance distribution using SSL (Solid State Lighting) light source technologies, LED, phosphorous lasers and RGC lasers.

Ryan Pitterle, NEC's product manager said - “Our new P-Series line makes installation easier, more flexible et more economical." "Advanced projection technologies including the HD BaseT and the new lenses, make installation easier as well as advancements like improved brightness and contrast that produce impressively clear images at more than 100 inches diagonally", he added.

These new projector models are exclusively made for post-secondary education but can also be used by companies with the professional configuration features giving them more versatility at a reasonable price.

Differences compared with the previous models

The P474W, P554W, P474U and P554U all have a WXGA or WUXGA resolution with more powerful brightness (increasing from 4700 to 5500 lumen) compared to the previous series.

The NEC P474W video-projector is a prime example, with 4700 lumen of brightness or better than the NEC P401W, the projector it replaces, with a 4000 lumen bulb.

Some of the major improvements over the previous models include modification of the horizontal and vertical lenses and a BaseT HD connection that still preserves efficient video transmission and long distance high definition. The real advantage lies in the wireless functionalities, virtually eliminating bulky cables from installations.

Maintenance costs have also been reduced, thanks to the nec video-projector bulb that lasts for more than 8000 hours… Actually, the longer-lasting bulb along with the availability of cheap replacement projector lamps makes the total cost of ownership 40% lower than previous models in the same series over a period of 5 years.

Other specifications

P-series projectors include several posting functions unique to NEC as well as cornerstone and distortion correction for better adjustment and image refinement. They also include a powerful 20W speaker.

Therefore, this new line of video-projectors replace the previous 7 models in the P-series completely. P474W replaces P401W and P452W; P554W replaces P502W; P474U replaces P452H; and P554U replaces P502H. The P451X and P501X models have been made obsolete.
