Are there any risks if you clean yourself the filter of your Optoma HD65 projector?
Question from customers
Question from Charles N.:
Hello,
In reading the various reasons and procedures for cleaning the filter of the projector, I was wondering if I should also do it because since buying my Optoma HD65 projector in 2011, I've never cleaned it.
Is there any risk if I clean myself the filter of my projector? Or, should I use the service of a specialist? Could I entrust you the cleaning or do you have a list of specialists to offer me?
Thank you for advance for your response.
Best regards,
Charles N.

Optoma HD65
Hello,
Cleaning the filter does not present especially a risk if you do it enough gently. Regarding the frequency of cleaning, it depends on the environment (dusty or less dusty) where your projector is exposed. On average, cleaning the filter should be done every 3 months. The reason we clean the filter is to prevent overheating that could damage your projector prematurely. Dust may also reduce the quality of the reflected image to the projection screen.
We are not experts in projectors and we do not have lists of experts to offer you. The best thing you can do is to inquire online if you want to entrust this task to a specialist of projector cleaning or a repairman.
Best regards,
